This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Mackenzi Lee is a great writer and I wish she had actually written these characters in the Guardians sequel so they could feel like fully developed characters。 The problem here, and the only reason for the lower rating, is that this is a prequel and thus, there were almost no stakes。 It was good。 We find out a lot about why Nebula is how she is, but, still, we never thought for a second she wouldn’t survive。 It sort of ruins the tension。 Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC

I received a early copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review and I wasn't disappointed。 This book was filled strong characters and a wonderful plot line that didn't leave you bored。 While I don't normally read comics and this was my first book from this author this book was a wonderful 5 star book that everyone should read。 I received a early copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review and I wasn't disappointed。 This book was filled strong characters and a wonderful plot line that didn't leave you bored。 While I don't normally read comics and this was my first book from this author this book was a wonderful 5 star book that everyone should read。 。。。more

I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review。 All opinions are my own。I love Gamora and Nebula in the GOTG movies。 I am not well versed in the comics or graphic novels, but that did not take away from enjoying this story。 I loved seeing a deeper insight into the two of them that wasn't mixed in with a bigger story。 I think this was a great place for a beginner (outside of the movies) to jump in and know what's happening。I also liked th I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review。 All opinions are my own。I love Gamora and Nebula in the GOTG movies。 I am not well versed in the comics or graphic novels, but that did not take away from enjoying this story。 I loved seeing a deeper insight into the two of them that wasn't mixed in with a bigger story。 I think this was a great place for a beginner (outside of the movies) to jump in and know what's happening。I also liked the side characters, some of them were only there very briefly but felt very fleshed out and painted a good picture of the planet they were on, and the motivations of everyone involved。 。。。more

An easy, fast paced read。 Exactly what I needed today! If you’re a fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy, this is your kind of book。 It takes place before the movies and gives us an inside look on both characters。

Thank you #NetGalley and Disney Publishing for providing me an ARC to read Gamora and Nebula by Mackenzi Lee!First, let me say I am a huge Marvel fanboy (comics and movies), but I have never really invested much time into Gamora or Nebula outside of what we see in the movies。 I was a little skeptical going into this book if I would like, but I am glad I gave it the chance。Here we see Gamora and Nebula in their early days as sisters - long before their father has acquired all of the infinity ston Thank you #NetGalley and Disney Publishing for providing me an ARC to read Gamora and Nebula by Mackenzi Lee!First, let me say I am a huge Marvel fanboy (comics and movies), but I have never really invested much time into Gamora or Nebula outside of what we see in the movies。 I was a little skeptical going into this book if I would like, but I am glad I gave it the chance。Here we see Gamora and Nebula in their early days as sisters - long before their father has acquired all of the infinity stones。 Thanos has spent his life pitting Gamora and Nebula against one another and their relationship is understandably strained。 This novel throws you right into the story as Gamora is sent on a mission to acquire the heart of the planet Torndune - a desolate mining world。 Nebula follows in her footsteps eager to take revenge on her sister for abandoning her。 (It actually took me a few chapters to figure out what was going on。) Frrom there we are taken on a wild ride through both of their missions! The action here is typical of any Marvel movie or comic and drives the plot along。 However, it is the relationship between Gamora and Nebula that really shines。 We see a lot of brotherhood in the MCU, but it was nice to have a change of pace here and to allow sisters to take the stage。 You get to see the tragedy both women have gone through in their life through their eyes and thoughts, and to be honest, it broke my heart at times。 I spent most of the novel rooting for them to reconcile and to come together - however, we all know how Gamora and Nebula's story goes。 It is one of tragedy and heartbreak。 Another shining light in this book was the presence of The Grandmaster。 The short snippets where he was included were some of my favorite parts due to his wit and humor。 My only complaint would be that there were times when the pacing seemed a little off。 The book seemed to slow to a crawl at points, and I found myself getting bored。 However, the payoff was worth it in the end。 I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Marvel and wants to see another side of the story! 。。。more

I’m genuinely impressed with the amount of research Mackenzi Lee puts into her Marvel books。 The lore, the references, everything about it is just *chef’s kiss* excellent。 Seeing Lady Death with Thanos was also great。 The humor was also very entertaining。 Perfect set up leading into Guardians of the Galaxy。

Having encountered the two titular females in Marvel films, I came to this novel with certain expectations which I fought to lay aside。 This novel predates the Marvel series, taking place when Nebula had just lost only one of her body parts。 Both girls are engaged in a deadly sibling rivalry, a battle for survival and the questionable love of a demanding, manipulative, emotionally abusive father figure in the form of Thanos。Ms。 Lee captures all the subtle and crude nuances of two girls who scrap Having encountered the two titular females in Marvel films, I came to this novel with certain expectations which I fought to lay aside。 This novel predates the Marvel series, taking place when Nebula had just lost only one of her body parts。 Both girls are engaged in a deadly sibling rivalry, a battle for survival and the questionable love of a demanding, manipulative, emotionally abusive father figure in the form of Thanos。Ms。 Lee captures all the subtle and crude nuances of two girls who scrap for connection in spite of years of power games that makes each wary about trusting the other。 We don’t just get the dynamics of Gamora/Nebula however; the weight of the novel rests on connections among many other females, each pivotal to the action。 There are the women engaged in a futile rebellion led by the trusting Versa Luxe; the followers of the inscrutable, enigmatic and corrupt Matriarchy cult and the silent Lady Death, a mythical figure the otherwise remote Thanos courts with desperate affection。This novel sizzles with action and ta relational drama that makes the Borgia family politics look like a catfight in an alley。 It has teeth and bloodplay and a touching vulnerability that aches all the more because of the inevitable betrayal。 It’s like warming your hands at a fire only to be burnt with the overheated poker。For those craving more than another superhero blockbuster, this novel is a bracing tonic that is as much touching family drama as it is sci-fi clashes。 。。。more

Gamora and Nebula have always been rivals, pitted against each other by their father。 But through it all, they are sisters。 Now, they are each trying to get the heart of the planet Torndune。 It is a dangerous task。 Just breathing the air can kill, and they must travel deep through the unstable mines to the center of the planet to find the heart。 It is a test of strength and trust。 This action-packed adventure still takes time to look at trust and family, overmining and workers’ rights。 This is a Gamora and Nebula have always been rivals, pitted against each other by their father。 But through it all, they are sisters。 Now, they are each trying to get the heart of the planet Torndune。 It is a dangerous task。 Just breathing the air can kill, and they must travel deep through the unstable mines to the center of the planet to find the heart。 It is a test of strength and trust。 This action-packed adventure still takes time to look at trust and family, overmining and workers’ rights。 This is a fun story, especially for Marvel movie fans。 。。。more

DNF @ 25%。 I’ve loved every Mackenzi Lee book before this, but I just couldn’t get into this one。 A shame, because I really connected with her Loki book。 I had high hopes for this one even though I’m not a huge Gamora or Nebula fan— but it just felt like things were happening and I had no investment in them。 I couldn’t even tell you what the plot exactly is because it just seemed like I was thrown into the middle of something。 I think this had the potential to be gripping, but something just did DNF @ 25%。 I’ve loved every Mackenzi Lee book before this, but I just couldn’t get into this one。 A shame, because I really connected with her Loki book。 I had high hopes for this one even though I’m not a huge Gamora or Nebula fan— but it just felt like things were happening and I had no investment in them。 I couldn’t even tell you what the plot exactly is because it just seemed like I was thrown into the middle of something。 I think this had the potential to be gripping, but something just didn’t work for me。 I hope I enjoy Lee’s third Marvel book more than this one! 2。5/5 stars。 。。。more

A fun and quick read。 I am really enjoying this author's take on Marvel characters。 First there was Loki and now there is Gamora & Nebula。 I loved seeing some of their history。 This book does a great job at introducing the characters and somewhat setting up what is coming in the greater scheme of things when it comes to the events of the Marvel cinematic universe。 I can't wait to see which character(s) Mackenzi Lee decides to tackle next。 A fun and quick read。 I am really enjoying this author's take on Marvel characters。 First there was Loki and now there is Gamora & Nebula。 I loved seeing some of their history。 This book does a great job at introducing the characters and somewhat setting up what is coming in the greater scheme of things when it comes to the events of the Marvel cinematic universe。 I can't wait to see which character(s) Mackenzi Lee decides to tackle next。 。。。more

The characters weren't the only great things about this book。 There was good world building, and there were several scenes where I adubily gasped -- Lee sure doesn't pull punches, especially with that ending!!! Even the transcripts sprinkled throughout had such a unique flare, and it's genuinely impressive how much fabulous personality jumps off the page in those scenes。 Gamora and Nebula: Sisters in Arms is a wild ride from start to finish。 The complexity behind these characters was incredible, and Lee weaved their stories together perfectly for an action packed novel full of twists that you're sure to love! 。。。more
